    Working as a school nurse, about 20 years ago I had a beautiful little 3rd grader who was so deprived that she asked to keep a head louse I pulled from her and mounted under scotch tape on an index card so that she would have a pet. I had a few thumbtacked to a bulletin board to show teachers what lice look like.
