Notice the stop sign says "ARRET". Quebec is the only place in the world that does that. Even in France, the stop signs say "STOP". (Quebec is officially psychotic about things like that, even though their version of French is riddled with adopted English words. Weird bunch...)
My sister took years of French, minored in it in college, did an exchange program in France for 6 months, so she was pretty fluent. She took a job in Montreal, thinking she'd be just fine.
Got off the plane there and found she couldn't understand a word. She said it took her about 9 months to learn how to speak "Quois" (pronounced "kwah" -- short for "Quebecois") since it at least uses French as a base....
As someone whose business it is to make holes in the ground, always make sure you have a dig ticket. I can promise that I will find the mismarked utilities. Having a dig ticket means you don't have to pay for the repairs. My guys tagged a 10" water main in Albuquerque a few years ago. It was a new main and hadn't been put on any maps, yet.
Oops! According to the marks on the ground, that water main is 30 ft. to the south! Oh, they tried hard to blame that one on me. Cell phone cameras are awfully handy for covering your ass. Then I had another boring marked as clear, but that same line we hit made a dogleg over exactly where we were going to drill. The water company caught that when they re-evaluated my ticket again. Otherwise, we would have hit it just a few hours later.
