When we first got angel, we took her for a walk along the river...on a long leash...I wasn't paying a lot of attention, and she took off for the water, enjoying herself.
Then we took her to a friends house, on a small lake: the property was fully fenced down to the water so we let her go run around (Huskys are notorious runners and escape artists)... We were talking with the friends on the deck, and here comes Angel all wet - we figured she might have fallen off the dock or whatever.. We took a walk down there, she followed us and started running for the lake - off the dock and into the water. I've got a little video of her swimming around, looking like a big otter. She even swam UNDER the dock to get from one side to another.
Lightning (a Malamute) was too heavy-boned to swim...He'd probably walk across a river on the bottom.
We have a goldendoodle named Forest. If there is water, creek, rain, puddle, river or lake he is immediately in at full run. Snow is exactly the same. Dude is wired for 240 volts. Steve in KY
Thanks for the smile.
ReplyDeleteMy siberian loved being in the water....
ReplyDeleteI never have been able to get any of my dogs into the water with the exception of one.

Good on him not to push the dog in, but to let it decide.

Deletemaybe you get in the water yourself and your faithful companion joins you.
