At the press conference with Durkan, who claimed the occupants of the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ) were engaging in an act of “patriotism,” Best remained noncommittal on a when police might return to the area, but explained that the evacuation had come after reports the precinct could be burned down.
“We were asked to do an operational plan, in case we needed to leave,” Best said, not saying who exactly gave the order to withdraw. “We got an update that there was the potential for fire — of course if the precinct goes down in fire, the whole block could potentially burn up.”

ReplyDeleteI do feel sorry for anyone caught behind enemy lines so to speak, but this is what they get.
I would have had them out of that area within 24 hours or less.
THEN maybe we can talk, but you have to have reasonable demands, otherwise the whole list should get tossed out and reconsidered only if they present responsible realistic requests.
'Reasonable', 'realistic'? How about NO! to all the above? They took what isn't theirs. They went further to put it all in jeopardy where even burning it all to the ground is on the table. Expanding outward, the entire city may become at risk. Certainly already millions of dollars of wealth has been severely damaged/destroyed. Then the 1st Responders are at a heightened state of preparedness which puts non-participating residents at risk. All because these pissants couldn't find it in themselves to, you know, behave as adults.

ReplyDeleteNope,it's not just you. My small Southern city has an ugly lesbian female chief of police and we just coast along on luck that nothing bad happens. But if it does, all hell will break loose and she and the female mayor won't have a clue about what to do. Fortunately I live in the county, miles from the city, and we can take care of our own out here. Wouldn't be caught dead in the city if TSHTF.
DeleteNo, it's not just you. Many government agencies have been completely chickified, which seems to lead to these agencies eventually becoming completely dysfunctional. It's what happens when decisions are based on emotion, not logic.
DeleteSurely these people are demonstrating just exactly what life will be like for everybody if we were ever stupid enough to put the likes of them in charge. They think that food and all of their consumer goods just fall from a magic tree. They have no idea that destroying the society that provides them with all of these things will mean that they don't have them any more. They are giving themselves, and all of the onlookers, a serious lesson on the nature of reality. Some will be too stupid to learn from it but hopefully not all of them.
