Fucked around and found out

I'm really surprised that we don't hear more of this kind of thing seeing concealed carry permits are easy as hell to get in Tennessee. All you have to do is take a short online class - I think it's 4 hours, pay a small fee and pass a quiz and background check.
The enhanced (concealed/open carry) permits are just a little harder - you have to physically attend an 8 hour class and pass a written and shooting test.

  1. Shot someone who pulled a gun on them in the knee? That's a risky move...or a really bad flinch.

  2. That citizen needs a lot more range time. Or better judgement, if that was an aimed shot.

  3. Indiana, fingerprints, background check, Carry permit 2-3 weeks. 4yr permit recognized by most states, Life time permit pretty much Indiana only since there isn't a set time for rechecking background.

    1. Same here. I was about to post class, test? Whatever are you referring to. And my county get you the permit in 10 days. Quite awesome actually.

  4. Ohio, 8 hours class time + 4 hours range time. $60 and is good for 5 years, fingerprint and photo taken.

  5. GA- clean criminal record and no time in the loony hospital then getting through the paperwork at the courthouse. $30 for a 5 year renewal.

Get the FL out-of-state CCP and between the two there are about 5 states I can't legally carry in.

  6. AZ has civilized gun laws, they're basically the state telling you, "It's none of our business."

Open and concealed carry without any permit. You need a CCW to carry in a place that sells booze, but you can't drink when carrying.
I read that if you're carrying in your car you have to have a round in the chamber.

    Very civilized.

Home invasions often end badly for the perp. The cops come and clean up and leave you alone.

    1. Don't trip, you're still good.
The enhanced permit is a regular permit that's been issued before the first of the year. The only reason it's enhanced was because at the beginning of the year they passed a law making it easier to get a permit just by taking an online class, but those folks can only carry concealed.
I'll renew mine (in 2025) with the so-called enhanced permit because I don't know how many states will recognize the one that's given with an online class.

  8. Open carry has always been legal in Kentucky. The Kentucky Constitution only gives the legislature authority to regulate concealed carry. When we did finally legalize concealed carry there was an 8 hour class with a 20 round shooting test and a paper test. The class was mostly just watching an error filled video that was a fat bald bureaucrat reading from the KRS.

Last year Kentucky removed the need for a permit for concealed carry, but you can still get one. I renewed mine online. The permit does get me out of state carry and Kentucky FFLs do not have to do a background check.

The Kentucky permit covers all weapons, not just firearms. Switchblades, brass knuckles, butterfly knives and other items banned in other states are covered by the Kentucky CDWL. "Common" pocket knives and sheathed hunting knives were always protected to carry by KRS.

  9. Constitutional Carry in NH, (Maine and VT too). but I still get an official permit so I'm reciprocal in some other states.
