Short story about my (Kazakh) bride and our wedding.
The best man arrived two days before. The day before we were setting up the "wedding hall" in the club room at the apartment complex, and then went out to get alcohol for the party. Since nobody on her side was in attendance, and I don't have a large social circle, we got two bottles of champagne and one bottle of white wine as a backup. Because I was in the mood for rum having just seen "Pirates of the Caribbean" I got a bottle of rum as well.
My bride-to-be looked at the box and asked "Is that it? In Russia this wouldn't even be enough for one person"!
In Russia this counts as a national emergency.

Hell, here in Texas it takes that much just to get the groom wonk kneed enough not to run.
