right after Sonny Bono caught an edge and faceplanted into a tree at about 50 mph. I was on the slopes, wearing 215cm Soloman Equipe giant slalom ski's. I loved to haul buggy and was going down a particularly steep slope in a tuck. it had a gentle turn and I caught an edge very close to the inside of the curve, i was thrown way out over my skis and saw a huge oak tree that I would hit, I was probably going 65 mph, no helmet. With a Hurculean effort I pulled my body back and got the rear edges to bite and turned away, wow, what a rush. After I turned i traversed and slowed way down and thought to myself that Sonny must have couln't gotten his weight back, because it takes a lot of core strength to pull back against that kind of momentum and the slope of the mountain,and I didn't panic, I saw it coming and reacted.

ReplyDeleteAfter all the scrap he and Cher piled in Nixon in the early 70's I thougbt it priceless he grew up and became a Republican Congress critter.
