Oh no! A tortilla shortage!

(KTLA) — Three food suppliers in California were ordered to close due to “significant” coronavirus outbreaks among their employees, officials said Monday.

S&S Foods in Azusa had a total of 58 employees test positive for the virus, Mission Foods Corp. in Commerce had 40 who tested positive, and Golden State Foods Corp. in the City of Industry had 43 employees with the virus.

Golden State Foods Corp. is one of the largest and longest-serving suppliers to McDonald’s, and Mission Foods is one of the most popular tortilla makers in the U.S.

  3. Kenny, Kenny, Kenny ... you're a resourceful dude ... make your own. All you need it a tortilla press. They're cheap, and available online. Torts only have a few ingredients ... finely ground cornmeal, lard and a bit of salt. Maybe a spot of baking powder. Plenty of recipes abound on that newfangled intraweb thing. Don't like corn? Make 'em out of flour.
    Go to town ...

    1. No press needed, just use a skillet. Take your masa ball and press with skillet, Voila tortilla pressed and ready to cook or use a rolling pin. No sense in spending money you do not need to!!! Grayman

  4. They're going to have to close the entire country, if the only criteria is somebody testing positive; everyone will test positive eventually.

  5. Buy a tortilla press, easy and you can make different flavors, if you so desire.
It has become a favorite thing to do at our house on Sunday mornings.

  6. ... not to add insult to injury, but think about virus being shed on the food by those employees during the production and packaging process. Yah, I know, Fauci says that Kung Flu doesn't live on surfaces. Was that before or after he said the exact opposite a few weeks prior? The bottom line is one can't believe anything that comes out of the mouths of anyone in the swamp, especially Fauci who's proved himself a liar time and again during this debacl. Even President Trump musn't be believed without cross checking, because he's being fed most of the info he conveys by every swamp creature in Washington, whose sole agenda is to make President Trump look bad.

    1. Yeah, remember when he said "grab the guns first, worry about due process later"?

Totally the swamp talking, not him.

At least he talked about the plight of White people, once.

Too bad it was in the context of South Africa.

  7. I was married before I knew that tortillas could be bought in the grocery store. BTW:
4 cups all-purpose Wheat flour, enriched, bleached (sub Corn Meal and add 1 TBsp baking soda)
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    2 tablespoons Lard
    1 ½ cups Water
Pretty simple. Cook on a griddle or a very large iron skillet.

  9. Buy El Milagro brand, They're available in most Latino and international markets - refrigerated. Definitely the closest flavor to real Mexican tortillas available here. I lived in Mexico for 18 years and know my tortillas

  10. Mission tortillas taste like shit. I hope this doesn't mean New Mexico is going to start exporting our tortillas to Kalifornia like we already do our electricity.
