I served in 2/11 ACR, Bad Kissengen, FRD from 1/87 - 3/89 during the Cold War. Had a great time. Loved the countryside, loved the scenery. I've always wanted to take the family to the little berg that bears my last name, not too far from where I was stationed. After Merkel and the open door policy on migrants, I don't know if that is such a great idea anymore, OPSEC and all ya know? I tell my friends that my 2+ years in the CAV was the best job I ever had.
It was an honor to be in Blackhorse, in my case April-November 1966 stateside and December 1966-November 1967 in South Vietnam. I have met several Vietnam veterans who said, “Man, the 11th Cav pulled our chestnuts out of the fire more than once.” I am glad we could help. Thanks for posting the video.
Pleased to ride that horse. The 11th Armored Cavalry Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia has had annual reunions since 1986, and we have more attending than do most division reunions.
