My dad's best friend was a Marine Corp, golden gloves boxer when he was young, Frank was a tough guy-he lived through the Chosin Resevoir retreat as a marine and lived a great life afterward. When he got old and his dementia progressed he kept getting kicked out of Senior living homes by kicking everyone's ass when they came to calm him down. I lost count on how many joints he got kicked out of. I miss Frankie, he was the real deal, a great great guy and funny as hell.
I was visiting my Dad in a rehab hospital where he was recovering from hip surgery. One of the saddest things I ever saw was an old guy in the next rooml holding off several orderlies with a chair. Apparently he had been asleep and one of the orderlies woke him up to take vitals. Poor man had no idea where he was or how he got there and the orderlies, all probably untrained min. wage workers from what I could deduce from their diction, weren't making the situation any better.
He held four or five them off for ~ a half hour before some family showed up and got him calmed down.
