Sad news, he was required reading every Tuesday morning for me. I will miss his posts. I hope his family finds comfort in the knowledge that what he wrote was always of tremendously helpful and insightful to me and many others.
Lo, There do I see my Father Lo, There do I see my Mother and My Brothers and my Sisters Lo, There do I see the line of my people back to the beginning Lo, They do call to me They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla Where thine enemies have been vanquished Where the brave shall live Forever Nor shall we mourn but rejoice for those that have died the glorious death.
Thanks to the various bloggers and commenters who have linked to archives. I've got a lot of catching up to do with Remus. I still miss Steven Den Beste (USS Clueless) and Rob "Acidman" Smith (Gut Rumbles).

It's probably a misspelling but don't be too sure. Ol' Remus was a gentleman and a scholar, so he would probably know that taels has several meanings related to measurements of weight or value. I've seen several authors from bygone days intentionally use that misspelling as a literary device.
A newspaper music reporter wrote in 1937: "They tell me George Gershwin has died. I do not have to believe it if I do not want to." I'll take a look every Tuesday anyway.
It was a good run, Godspeed Remus.

ReplyDeleteRIP Remus. You did well and we are better for having known your writings.
I told my sons I want this on my headstone so I'll just leave it here. Seems appropriate.
