Why didn't he just back up?

In a brazen crime caught on camera early Sunday morning, a group of men riding Divvy bikes surrounded an elderly man's car in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood, pulled the driver out and stole his vehicle.

There was nothing behind him - all the 'teens' were in front of and to the sides of him.

  1. Any time you see those people blocking a road, DO NOT STOP! Go another way. And yes, Back Up

  2. As I mentioned earlier, it's not "Guess the Race" anymore. You can take it as a given that heavily pigmented comrades of a colonial heritage were involved.

  3. He didn’t back out because he’s 82. Cognitive dissonance at play here; he couldn’t make sense of what he saw and could not protect himself from the feral animals surrounding his car. Lord of the Flies writ large.

  4. Ya think being 82 had something to do it? Next time you get car jacked let’s see how you do!

  5. He is over 80 years old and probably had no idea what to do. Lucky the feral animals did not harm him. The media and the democrats have further emboldened such lawlessness.

  6. Most of the 80 year olds I know are meaner than a snake. (probably because everything hurts and they are more than a little angry at everything).

    1. I'm far from being 80, but I'm spunky. I had a moment yesterday with a store manager over not wearing a face diaper. I told him his diaper was filthy, your employee standing there, her diaper is dirty, now tell me why I need to wear a dirty diaper. BTW, my name is Karen, wanna see Karen on steroids? He backed off.

  7. Well... I am 77 and I can tell you that I would know what to do in that situation. I would run over the assholes and escape. I like my chances in court better than a beating death on the street by N-Word people. I don't think I would feel any different in 5 years when I am 82 .. Allah willing.

  8. Something is wrong with my video player. The coloring is all messed up. It looks like all those vibrant youth are Black. And they are attacking a white guy.

As noted by the other commenters, this fellow was not able to protect himself. Don't let that be you or your loved ones. He got lucky and they didn't curb stomp him senseless. You might not be so lucky.

  9. Streeterville is the same general area where Jussie Smollett staged his hoax. This intersection is maybe half a mile or so south of Smollett's incident. It's a high rent neighborhood within walking distance of an Apple store on the Magnificent Mile.

  13. Most folks have no sense of what is going on around them. I've been playing the mental exercise of "what if such and such happened right now? What Would I do?" since I was old enough to drive. It has gotten me out of some pretty dicey situations more than once. Simple things like leaving enough space between me and the car in front of me at a light that I could hang a u-turn if I needed to. Well, one time I needed to.

Playing the "What if" game keeps a person sharp.
