Air Force Helicopter Shot At From Ground Over Virginia, Injuring Crew

In an almost unheard of and unprecedented scenario, an Air Force helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in Manassas, Virginia after someone shot at the helicopter from the ground.

The incident happened Monday, and military sources are now revealing the dangerous incident, which actually injured a member of the crew.

McClatchy details that a UH-1N Huey helicopter which flew out of Joint Base Andrews — where Marine helicopters which routinely fly members of Congress as well as the president are based (in the president's case, Marine One, as well as Air Force One are housed there) — was on a routine training flight after an unknown individual or individuals fired on it from the ground.

  1. I remember back in the 60s/early 70s, B-52s were landing with more holes in them than they took off with. It was eventually traced back to a disgruntled dairy farmer popping them with his .22 rifle when they were on final, because the noise was upsetting his dairy cows.

  9. Could be some redneck, but I wonder if it isn't a false flag to make Virginia gun owners look bad. I'm not saying it didn't happen, just that the narrative won't match the facts. I hear their Governor is rather anti-2A and this will certainly add fuel to his fire...

  12. Back in the 80's the Beeville Navy Jet school was sitting 21 year olds in the driver's seat of $21 million jet airplanes and those punk kids loved to coming flying in a tree-top level and scattering cows and making jump off my tractor. They flew in three's and after awhile of putting up with it, I began shooting the punks with a 270. Don't know if I ever hit one, nothing went down burning nearby, but I did hear of others crashing, and I felt good about that. fuckem

  13. And the crew saw nothing?
    No muzzle-flashes?

I might be too sceptical at times, but did anybody check for holes during their pre-flight inspections?
I have zero experience in the matter, but I hear aircraft are easier to target while they are stationary on the ground.

  14. It must have been about 15 years ago, now, when a guy shot down a police helicopter with an M1A in Albuquerque. He got pissed off because it was circling his house in the middle of the night while he was trying to sleep. So, he stepped outside and put a round or two into the helo, forcing it to land.

The guy was never charged with anything but discharging a firearm in city limits because, the DA discovered, there was no law against shooting an aircraft.
