Americans Are Growing Less Willing To Beg for Permission To Make a Living

It appears that government-imposed restrictions on travel, business, and social contact don't become more palatable with age. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to simmer, the one competency that officials have consistently displayed is in tightening the screws, using the licenses and permissions they require as enforcement tools. For people tired of being bossed around, the obvious response is to carry on without the government's imprimatur—and they're doing so in droves. It's an attitude likely to live on long after the crisis has passed.

"Our businesses are doomed," Chris Polone, co-owner of a Fort Worth bar that was one of more than 800 such establishments to open in defiance of Texas closure orders, said at the end of July. "We have nothing to lose. We can either fight this thing, Or we can starve ourselves out."

  1. When you have more to loose following an illegal mandate than breaking the damn thing then you have no reason or obligation to comply.
Tyrants should be shot, hung or tared and feathered....

    3. Amen to that. Rode out of town on a rail. Drawn and quartered.

    4. Not to be rude or anything, but you misspelled 'and'.

Tyrants should be shot, hung AND tared and feathered.

    5. Order matters. Tarred and feathered, then hanged, then shot for insurance. Shooting first deprives them of most of the experience, which is meant to be educational. Educational for the others, that is.

    6. Tarring and festhering is not permanent. Hung, drawn, and quartered, thats permanent. Think the execution in Braveheart. Shooting the pieces afterward is just target practice, but that is never time wasted.

    7. yes it is permanent. what the 4th grade history books don't say is that after tarring and feathering they chased them down the street with a torch. if caught they were set on fire. feathers to ignite the tar, get it?

  2. How many politicians have you heard of screaming about these unconstitutional orders. How many Supreme Court cases have ruled that these are unconstitutional orders, our politicians have sold us out for thirty pieces of silver. Never forget these are the true enemy's of America Democrats and Republicans doing the bidding of TPTB

  5. Licensing is just caretel behavior made legal. It doesn't even negate caveat emptor. It's just bulshit big government tyranny. You want to get surgery done by a faith healer then I say go ahead. Thinning the heard..

  7. I've been saying it since this shit started - if everyone ignored it, they couldn't do a thing. But when only one or two folks are sticking their neck out at a time, they get their heads chopped off.

  8. I've felt that licencing is bullshit for years. Im a contractor and had a run in with the state regarding my licence 15 yr ago. I told them to go pound sand. You hear all the boogyman stories about unlicenced contractor all the time. I stay booked 8-12 months out, been that way for yrs.
I have 100% customer satisfaction, yes I said 100%. Vast majority of all my work is repeat clients. Every single one knows I don't do the licence game. if permit is needed I fill out the form, homeowner signs as operating as own contractor and we proceed.
I carry all required insurance, plus extra riders if it's a large remodel or new home.
