WiscoDave recently came across this and was wondering if any of you can give a little background and value on this vintage set. The figures are cast iron with enamel paint and stand a couple three inches tall. He's done some searching online but the only similar ones he's found have Snow White's hands up in the air.
Any help would be most appreciated.
The ebay link has a lot of sets for various prices.

ReplyDeleteThis is the dude from Antiques Roadshow, I've spoken to him several times now. Brusque, but super knowledgeable. Send them the pix, he'll know.
Eight statues.
ReplyDeleteYou better hide them from Antifa.
Who knew Snow White was also a dwarf?
ReplyDeleteSnow stood for that pose when she was only 12. She was at least 6 years older and some taller when she sucked the Prince's tongue down her throat. Talk about horny, Snow had run out of batteries years before and the dwarfs had no idea how to help her.
DeleteCast iron is probably from the late 20's into the 30's. Best bet would be to find a vintage toy dealer and ask them to appraise the set. Dave my be very surprised at the value.
ReplyDeleteIt's worth about 10 bucks for the whole set. I'll be generous and give him $15 if he pays for the shipping. (you can trust me - I voted for Obama 4 times)

Snow White ............... Racist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete"have Snow White's hands up in the air."
ReplyDeleteDLM, muthafucker! Dwarf lives matter!
Huh. Ebay mostly has it right (!). The proper English-language plural of "dwarf" is "dwarfs". The whole "dwarves" thing is a Tolkien invention, to separate out HIS dwarves from the jokey/silly dwarfs.
Dwarves is English-English, not American-English.
DeleteLike potatoe is spelled with an 'e' at the end. Dan Quayle was taught by old-school super-snobby teachers. I also was taught by old-school snobby teachers, and still spell tomatoe and potatoe with an 'e' BFYTW.
Both are archaic and not used here in the US.
Some say "potato", some say "potahto".
DeleteSome say "tomato", some say "tomahto".
Here in KY, we say "maters and taters".
Thanks for the suggestions.
ReplyDeleteWe'll contact Noel Barrett. My wife was on AR a few years back with several of my father's cast iron toys.
