Should Motorists Run Over Anarchists at Impromptu Roadblocks?

Anarchists' widespread use of roadblocks to attack motorists requires citizens, and especially potential jurors, to understand the full implications of these incidents. This is especially true given the propensity of some district attorneys and prosecutors to, as I see it, virtue-signal by filing charges against the motorists rather than the potential carjackers and highway robbers. A "hasty roadblock" as deployed frequently by anarchists can often be construed as prima facie evidence of violent intent, and, as motorists cannot read the anarchists' minds, they must act on the situation as they find it.

I'll just continue to follow the same guidelines I have for the past 25 years or so - avoid trouble spots and confrontations if I can.

  5. Generally a few bursts from the bed mounted 5.56mm minigun on my pickup towards the roadblock tends to clear any blockages.

  6. ... and how are we supposed to know if/when a potential car jacking is about to take place ? Anyone approaching a car with mask and potential weapon should be viewed as hostile. Criminals know this and will likely take advantage, if they haven't been doing this already.

    1. J.C. Whitney is selling cowcatchers for cars... The name would infer that they're designed to remove unwanted militant feminists from your path, but they'll probably work on anything that won't slip through the grille...

Joking aside; this almost happened to me; three guys standing on a corner as I made a right turn. I had the light and the crosswalk right of way. Halfway through my turn, one guy steps out in front of me. I hit the horn but he just stands there. I go to back up, and the second guy's behind me. About that time, the third guy is opening my door. I'm dealing with him, and the first guy is opening the shotgun seat door. He sees the ham radio and shits his pants, telling everyone to scram. He probably thought I was a cop.

Moral of the story; doors stay locked, eyes stay opened, with "yard sale-purchased "chopping tool," price tag still affixed, within an easy reach. Someone tries entering my space without consent again, and he's going to end up with a split personality... GUARANTEED! Anyone in my path after that is gonna die. I-HAVE-HAD-ENOUGH!

    2. A cheap hammer in easy reach is also handy.

Also defensible, as in "emergency window opening device in case of crash or sinking in water"....

  7. "avoid trouble spots and confrontations if I can."

Which doesn't answer the question posed by the headline.

While I'm a firm believer in "avoiding trouble", sometimes, no matter what one does, trouble happens. When it does "it is better to be judged by twelve than carried by six" IMHO.

    2. Better, "I was afraid for my life. I didn't realize I unloaded the 15 round magazine on them".

  10. the leadership of both antifa, and BLM have instructed the protesters to behave the way they are, I believe that the goal is dead and maimed protesters. this will give them more grievances and bring about more protest. The protesters are indeed useful idiots, and cannon fodder. best to just avoid them if possible. Eventually they will get what they want, dead protesters.

  11. One thing the article didn't touch upon, is civil lawsuits for injuries suffered by a protester. Take the Tulsa incident in which a truck pulling a large horse trailer was blocked, and then swarmed by angry protesters who began beating on the truck and throwing water bottles at the windows. The Tulsa County DA rightfully refused to charge the driver of the truck for running over any protesters. However, now there is at least one civil lawsuit against the driver of the truck from a protester who was pushed over a bridge by the crowd as they moved back from the truck once it began to run over protesters.
Unfortunately, civil lawsuits do not require the level of proof of burden, etc. that criminal lawsuits do. Take OJ Simpson as an example, where he was not found guilty of murder, but Nicole's parents still won a civil lawsuit against OJ for the murder anyway. I agree with the writer's comment that the driver shouldn't be held responsible for any injuries to a protester, even if they weren't directly involved in the attack on the vehicle, but rather the protesters who actively attacked the vehicle should be the ones held responsible. But unfortunately, as a lawyer once told me, laws aren't based upon logic, so you can't count on using logic in your defense.

    1. I agree with your assessment; however, I would rather be judged by 12 than carried out by six.

  12. There may be another angle to this: if the number of people who are staying home due to the fact that there really isn't any safe route anywhere goes up, then the "mandatory vote by mail" people can point to this and say, "See, too many people are afraid to leave their homes due to the unrest. Their votes have to be counted and this is why we have to have mail in ballots for the election this year." just a thought.

  13. I'm not advocate of violence and I try to avoid going to places where it may be found.
Ok so disclaimer out of the way, I will run over and/or shoot any asshole that puts me or members of my family in a dangerous situation, no apologies or fucks given.

  14. You’ve just driven into the kill zone of an ambush. Aw crap. Blinkers on, horn blaring and move at slow but steady pace. DO NOT STOP! If they try to escalate, accelerate. If windows start breaking, they’re either getting the Taser or the .40. Drive to the nearest LEO.

  15. I think it's time to go looking for this stuff.

Stay in the shadows, bring the suppressed rifle, targets of opportunity are plenty.

Make you you have your brass, exfil out ... repeat when & where you can. Best to bring a team mate or two.

  17. Call 911! No, it won't do shit! But the first one to 911 is the victim. Call, don't act angry! Sound worried, concerned scared. Explain why you are fearful for your safety and your life. Sound scared if possible.

If you see weapons, say so! If they are pounding on your car, say so. Describe the people, emphasize the scary black, camo, whatever clothing, masks hiding their faces, weapons being brandished.

Keep the windows closed and the doors locked.

Keep 911 on the line. If they break a window? They are definitely attacking you. -- Time to leave. Scream into the phone and go, go, go! Explain how scared you are, how you are afraid they are attacking you. Meet the police, and file a complaint for terroristic threats, kidnapping/detainment, brandishing, any damage to your vehicle, and if they even came close to touching you in your vehicle. You are the victim. Be scared, be angry be glad you didn't have to hurt anyone.

Remember!!!! You are not the Avenging Angel of Death!!!! You are just a poor working man / woman / retiree. You were a law abiding citizen doing legal activities, when you were attacked. You were scared, and YOU HAVE 911 TAPES TO PROVE IT!!! You may also have dash cam footage. Make sure you didn't say something stupid, angry or God Forbid Racist! on the dash cam.

Your goals are to STAY SAFE!
    STAY OUT OF PRISON!
Maybe get one of them locked up.
    Stay Safe!

    1. If there were an upvoting system, I'd upvote this excellent advice.

And go over that excellent advice with anyone likely to be riding with you in your car, because whatever THEY say is also going to be on the 911 tape.

Victimhood is the key to modern life. It reflects the tools and the mindset of those who rule over us.

"Make sure you didn't say something stupid, angry or God Forbid Racist! on the dash cam."
Yeah. You can give physical descriptors of height, likely age, clothing. Do not identify by race. "When I see a person, I see a human being. I don't believe in pigeonholing people by presumed race." (Thus that means don't even identify white people as white.)
