Thanks for posting this. Before my time, but man such a much simpler/joyful time. The band is top notch and they seem to really enjoy playing together. Excellent post.
They were a different band after MM came in, that's for sure. I kinda liked that era, but not as much as the pre-MM stuff like this one:

Oh yes, let us not forget the Doobies were out there doing benefit concerts for Viet Nam veterans when it wasn't necessarily the cool thing to be doing.
Nope, The Doob's ruled when Tom Johnson was the main singer, after Johnson went in rehab MM turned the band into a lousy whiteboy soul revue. Compare "Without You" or "Evil Woman"( A Doobie Favorite) with "What a Fool Believes", yeah, a fool believes MM was better. Nope. PS: Saw the Doob's live playing Evil Woman. incredibly amazing, they did this tribal thing of circling while playing, they all had bushed out hair down to their ass totaling rocking out, it was amazing! one of my best concert moments ever.
