‘AARP Works Against Its Members’: AARP Overcharges Members While Reporting Billion-Dollar Revenues, Report Says

AARP finances its operations by overcharging members for health care policies and through its billion-dollar relationship with UnitedHealth Group, according to a new public policy report.

Despite its “non-profit” status, AARP’s profits have been increasing for years largely due to the organization’s practices of marketing of products and services, the report. The report, published by public policy think tank American Commitment, mainly examined AARP’s source of revenue since the passage of The Affordable Care Act in 2010.

  1. And to no one's surprise, the CEO of AARP is a woman. And not only a woman, but a black woman. And not only a black woman but a hard core liberal who pushes AARP policies far left. Double dip affirmative hire bites again. AARP is an organization for middle aged white suckers.

    1. "a hard core liberal who pushes AARP policies far left"

AARP has been far left for decades; it wasn't just their current Fuhrer/General Secretary.

    1. Hell, My Daddy figured out AARP way back in the early 90's and cut his ties to them. They have always been a commie operation.

  4. AARP sold out our kids future when they jumped on board with obummercare to further enrich themselves.

AMAC is the old folks group I belong to and I'd never give AARP a penny.

  5. I figured out a long time ago that membership in AARP does nothing but line the pockets of AARP. Sure you might get a 10% discount here and there, but their biggest income is insurance commissions. They don't really do much for Seniors.

  6. My wife bought a medigap policy through United for $19.99 a month. Then she got paperwork from AARP about the policy. The new price is $39.99 a month. Thank you for showing this article, Kenny. I will take action this afternoon.

  8. When AARP went full retard back a long while ago, even backing Demonrat candidates for political office, which I think is against the law for a non-profit, I vowed to never join. Finally, after decades of mailing me monthly membership applications, they've finally stopped. Maybe I need to check the obits to see if I'm still alive.

    1. HAHAHA...You just reminded me what I used to do. Everytime I would get mail from AARP I would tear up every piece except the return envelope. Then I would stuff all the tore up crap into their PRE-PAID envelope and seal it and toss it back in the mail. It took AARP about a year of me returning their crap before stopping any mailings to me

  9. AARP also is very much anti gun, for seniors and everyone else. That to me is their biggest fault.

  10. With the US Government being the biggest con game around, it is not too surprising that groups like AARP proliferate, get rich, and screw the common man all at one swing of the bat.

  11. This just described every non-profit on the planet. Turn profits into payroll, retirement plans and bonuses for their executives. Not seeing how they are overcharging anyone who is willing to pay that price.

  12. When I turned 50, AARP started sending me all of their bullshit. I knew back then that they were a leftist front organization, so I just dropped everything they sent me into the trash. But they sent me something nearly every day, sometimes twice a day. After I retired last year, at 65, it all stopped - or nearly did. Now, I might get something from them maybe, every three or four months. Still goes in the trash though.
