Football players suspended from team for carrying Thin Blue, Thin Red lines flags at game

MORROW, Ohio (WKRC) — Some local high school football players are finding that their support for first responders is coming at a huge cost.

The boys are now suspended from their team after not heeding a warning to leave the Thin Blue Line and Thin Red Line flags that represent fallen firefighters and police officers off the field.

  1. I think the other players should line up to start the next game, if they are the receiving team they should allow the other team to kick off then walk off the field. If they kick off, simply kick the ball and walk off the field.

  3. I'm thinking some Dads need to have a Man to man "talk" with some bureaucrats.

  4. Left or right, pro or amateur. This thing of politicalizing sports has pretty much turned me away. I think pro wrestling and maybe roller derby if it still exists is about the only legitimate deal now.

    1. So let me get this straight, on 9/11 it's political to support the orginazitions that ran into the buildings to save lives ?

Not around here it's not, it's pretty much fucking mandatory.

    2. Football has been political from day one, although it was a different type of politics in the old days, more akin to patriotism and nationalism. Playing of the anthem, public prayer, recognizing that other people fight so they could play football, etc.

Liberal heads would explode today if there was a public prayer on a football field.

    4. I remember attending div one college football games in the mid 70's, there was a prayer before kickoff.

  6. I didn't see any evidence of the Burn Loot Murder flag, so the administrators may have a point.

  7. And this. Maybe the board members were asked to review what the actual law says, and to prepare for a legal backlash:

    1. One boys dad is a police officer. The other a fireman and it has been reversed. This is what happens in schools with a female principal.

  10. The take-away from all this, 20 years from now, will be a valuable lesson...don't mix sports and politics. I predict some franchise bankruptcies on the horizon. Stick a fork in pro sports; it's done.

    1. WCD, I agree, but then I watched the 16,000 fans at Arrowhead boo their team for kneeling. I asked myself, why were they there in attendance booing. The end zones have BLM stuff in sprayed in it.
I myself quit watching four years ago. I think people hope this will all go back to normal?
