    1. My guess is that it was there when or before the house was built and from a previous resident. Here are some nursery numbers. Trichocereus is also a valuable plant to grow and it increases in value much better than an IRA or 401K does.

      6in Saguaro Cactus: $20.00
      12 in Saguaro Cactus: $40.00
      18 in Saguaro Cactus: $75.00
      24 in Saguaro Cactus: $150.00
      3ft – 7ft Saguaro Cactus: $80/ft
      8ft – 20ft Saguaro Cactus: $100/ft

  3. #3 :Internal screaming intensifies:

Likely paving around it and having it next to a pool caused rot around the base. Even a chuck of that cactus costs several hundred dollars.

Dust the broken ends with sulfur and let them dry, then replant it. I have a few dozen Saguaro seedlings growing right now, they are almost a year old and the size of bottle caps. I'll probably die before they make their first branches but I'm hoping I can gift them to people around the southern states before I die. It's a good way to leave a multi-generational mark on the Earth. :)

#8 Tape them back together w/ serial numbers, even if it's only the larger half, and you can have them replaced.
