  1. Your not too far from the U.S. Summernatioals at Indy.
I met Eddy and Ercie there years ago.

    1. He's probably about the same distance from Bristol. I've been to Thunder Valley, Can really feel when the nitro lights off.

  2. I can beat that. I was at Sears Point about 20 years ago at Eddy Hill's pit, got his autograph, then turned to Ercie and asked if I could have hers too. She signed my hat then threw her arms around me and gave me a great big kiss on the cheek. I wore her lipstick proudly for the rest of the day.
Both of them were real down to earth people. You could tell they enjoyed racing and it just wasn't a business to them.

  3. You can have your NASCAR, I'll take drag racing (especially at night) every time.

  5. Been to the Indy Labor Day Nationals twice. 1969 for 5 (five) days, while stationed at Ft Knox and then for a couple days in 1971. Awesome sauce. Now I try to hit the NHRA National in Chandler AZ, but only for Friday Pro qualifying day. You get to see 2 rounds of Top Fuelers, Fuel Funny Cars, Pro Stockers and some pro Motorcycles trying to get into the 16-car program. Don't care who wins wins, I just want to be assaulted, sonically, visually, and in an olefactory sense. I recommend it highly.

  6. Besides the following link facts...do the math...A Top Fuel motor at 8,000 RPM (give or take)...with E.T.'s under 4 seconds...turns less than 900 revolutions from start to finish....https://www.hotcars.com/facts-about-drag-racing-that-we-never-knew-until-now/
