He was only going 11 km/h over the speed limit, but with a rather rude hand gesture a driver in Kulmbach landed himself with a hefty fine.
Nobody would really describe themselves as a fan of speed cameras, but this one driver in Kulmbach, Bavaria, seems to have developed a real hatred for them. He was caught at the end of April 2020 driving down the B289 at 81 kilometres per hour, in a 70-limit zone.

The most pedantic, absolutely humorless, nit-picking and bean-counting creatures on Earth: the German Polizei.
ReplyDeleteThe charge? Being insulting in road traffic.
ReplyDeleteAnything resembling a sperm count left Germany a long time ago.
Barely 6mph over the speed limit. Cops are not your friend.
ReplyDeleteDoing the math, it's going 50 mph in a 43 mph zone. Most places here won't issue a ticket for that because it is easy to beat, and many will agree to drop the charged speed by 10 mph anyway. I guess there's still no freedom of speech in Germany.
ReplyDeleteWorked on a small farm in Germany back in the mid 80s, and I recall a public service announcement on TV with all the hand gestures that could get you fined by the police. I only recall two, and one of those was the bird.

Heaven is where the police are British, the mechanics German, the chefs are French, the lovers Italians and it's all organized by the Swiss.
