USFA Zip 22: How a Garbage Gun Destroyed A Good Company

  1. Okay, I hafta comment here, man! I was the printer of record for USFA ever since Doug Donnelly brought his family money into Hartford, CT, because he wanted to build an 1873 Single Action Army, in the original Blue Domed Colt Building, after they moved to West Hartford...he wanted to build a better gun than Colt had in their specialty shop, for just a little less than the Italian knockoffs... he hired Pete Rhodes, the master gunsmith from Colt, and a buncha other dudes and they proceeded to hand Colt their lunch! We're talking the early 90s...yeah, like most genius folks, Doug was also quite the head case, but I liked working with him and did so for almost a decade...he moved outta the original building, started putting CNC machines all over the new floor of his expoxied room, and the downfall began...took on too much business, couldn't deliver, tried new models like the Omni, which, in theory looked pretty cool, but then, eventually lost it with the zip gun...closed up shop, fucked his employees, except Pete who wound up at Connecticut Shotgun, where he's making some really good shit...google that, and if y'all do, tell Pete I said "hi!" he's a stand up dude...I wish the best for old Doug, too, I have 6 of his guns, and they're premier pieces, from back in the day...

    1. Had the same issue, don't know why. Wouldn't come up in Chrome or Brave browsers.
