Hawaii "Has Committed Suicide" - Local Rages "Hardly Anyone Is Sick, But We're All Broke"
While we have grown used to the people (well, at least those who are capable for thinking for themselves) of Michigan and California complaining that the tyrannical COVID lockdown rules imposed by Governors Whitmer and Newsom are arbitrary and capricious (if not downright unconstitutional), it is less often we hear from those living on the beautiful islands of Hawaii.

I'm really curious if Hillary had won in 2016 if the demoncratic governors would have cratered their economies. As Jane Fonda said, Covid was a gift for the left. The demoncrats were able to destroy their economies and then blame Trump.
ReplyDeleteAre you serious if Hillary had been elected there would be no economy to crash...
DeleteFuck Hanoi Jane and fuck Hillary too.
Delete"Fuck Hanoi Jane and fuck Hillary too."
DeleteWhy in God's name would you want to see that clam joust? Or am I misreading you?
Hawaii is to the West and Left of California, Oregon and Washington State. Maybe the Navy should use it to test out nerve agents that kill all the humans, but leave the beautiful flora & Fauna in tact.
ReplyDeleteWe could just offer it to the Japanese with a note "our bad." They or the Chinese will be playing jump ball with it as the US continues to decay.
DeleteMy wife and daughter went to Hawaii this past Decemeber and had a blast. I am so glad they went when they did. They missed out on what is going on today.
ReplyDeleteIt was my daughter's high school graduation gift - we aren't rich by any means, and my wife had been asking to go back on a 2nd honeymoon, where we went when we were hitched. So glad I gave my daughter my seat instead - now she has memories of the place too.
Locals hate people providing money in the form of taxes AKA: tourists. Tough shit, Hawaii, don’t bar the door to visitors and then expect us to bail your progressive asses out. And there ain’t nuthin “royal” about your progenitors so y’all can lose that attitude, too.
ReplyDeleteIs Hawaii beautiful? Undoubtedly, but so is the rest of America but the big difference is y’all are isolated and anyone who wishes to visit the islands must deliberately make plans and spend an enormous amount of money.
Take a tiny bit of advice from this Floridian: lose the attitude, get some testosterone supplements, kick the grifters out of office, start voting Conservative, and open up the islands. If you fail to do so, expect your masters to keep your sorry asses in slavery into perpetuity.
Dear ears Bobo. Tourist visits are down 98% from last year. Think of that. An economy that pretty much runs on tourism and their government knows it, has made it almost impossible to visit.
DeleteThat's who the people of Hawaii elected. Just like Portland and Seattle and Chicago and...
In fact the mayor of Portland is down 70-30% to an avowed antifa supporter who promises no bail or jails.
So I should give a shit?
They be moe then one kahn ah Kangs, en shit. Gnome sayin?
DeleteI.e. Learn your place, haole.
The citizens of the state vote for these policies. They vote for poverty. They are willing to suffer the effects of Democrat party policies, and suffer the ill affects because they know it will hurt someone else.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, back at the Bat Ranch, Uncle Xi sez:
ReplyDelete"It only take virus with 99% survival rate
to convince Americans to give up their rights!"
It is curious that the author thinks the federal government should take over the situation since the state government is trampling on the citizens' civil rights. I have a better idea; vote for people running for state and local offices who respect the rule of law and the Constitution. You put your current PUBLIC SERVANTS in office with your votes. You can remove them from office with your votes. But you will need to quit falling for the "vote for me to get free stuff" gambit and looking up to them as superior to or smarter than the common person, dumbass.

ReplyDeleteI am a republican. Here on Maui we were told the Islands were opening today. I scheduled a medical appointment at a military hospital on Oahu. I was informed, by the mayors office, I must have a covid test 72 hours prior to departure. I must upload a form called The State of Hawaii Travel and Health form, create a profile, complete a medical questioner, upload neg. covid test results plus be subjected to a 14 day quarantine upon return. The mayors office said I, may, be able to have a test done at CVS or Walgreens. Our I can make an appointment with my primary. We were told, by the mayors office, the language was very confusing and that they had just received these new rules yesterday. When asked if I needed a covid test to return to Maui from Oahu I was told the language says I must have a covid test 72 hours prior to returning to Maui. However, the mayors office, thinks, I'll be ok. They could not give me a definitive answer. I cancelled the appointment. Papers Juden! And yes, most of these assholes will keep voting democratic.

ReplyDeleteMy wife's family were in Hawaii, I've been there many times. Many friendly generous people.
ReplyDeleteBut they were almost destroyed by the air flight shutdown of 2001, aircraft bind the islands together and sustain them. In 2001 there was no bread on Maui because the bakery was on Oahu, no bakery on Maui.
Restricting inter island air travel is like restricting driving between towns in the same state on the mainland.
shoot the fucking politicians there over this. Enough is enough
ReplyDeleteI live in Michigan. The only reason that we have Gretchen Whitless, the Empress of Lansing, is that she ran for governor at the same time as the recreational marijuana question was on the ballot. That brought out the liberal vote, who of course voted Democrat.
ReplyDeleteIn a state of about 10 million people, we were able to get 500,000 signatures to force the issue to force her to not be allowed to maintain her state of emergency indefinitely. And our court system ruled that she did not have the authority to unilaterally keep her state of emergency in place after 28 days, without approval of the legislature.
So the people did win, although we have yet to see her rules taken away. We still must wear masks in every business, and in restaurants and bars, you must wear one while entering the place, then you can take it off to eat or drink, then you must put it on to leave the place.
I have a code that just appeared on my car. I usually just go to the local auto parts dealer, they come out and hook up their machine, and then scan the codes and tell me what caused the idiot light. I went yesterday, and they said that due to the government orders, they could not come out to my car with their handheld machine, and read my codes. They told me that Autozone has a module that they allow you to take and hook up to your car,and then bring it back inside, and they will then read the codes for you. Hopefully the powers that be release us from some of the stupid rules that have been imposed on us.

DeleteSo it's a win in the same sense that France and Italy "won" WWII.
Hawaii gave the world the Ironman triathlon. I love the fact that it was dreamed up by a bunch of drunks in a bar and eventually went global. I did one in 2017 at the age of 58. I was as fit as I have ever been in my life and I still feel ten feet tall when I think about the fact that I did it.
ReplyDeleteI still agree that people who vote for socialism deserve to get it good and hard. It isn't as if the likely consequences are not widely known about.
...what should one expect from a state that elects the likes of Mazie Hirono to represent them in the Senate.
ReplyDeleteNemo
Frankly, I find this hilarious. Hawaiians say they don't need/want Haoles to 'spoil' their paradise, and they want to secede... Welp, you're now getting your wish, again! Remember 2001, when the airlines were grounded? They were SCREAMING for Fed $$$ to bail their asses out. If I were in charge, I'd close the bases, destroy the infrastructure, and walk away. Let them sink or swim on their own. And yes, I've been stationed there. They are assholes to the military personnel.
ReplyDeleteNFO did you get to Molokai? Nice little socialist island. Everybody on the dole. They talk about returning to their culture and being of the land. Bullshit. You will not see one garden, no animals being raised, no people at the parks or beaches, huge coconut plantations totally ignored and the list goes on. They are all sitting home in a/c, drunk, stoned and watching their wide screen tv's waiting for the next check. I looked at a couple homes for sale and they are rotted. I went through a front step of one house right on the ocean. Almost all the homes are in disrepair. Their restaurants might just as well serve cat shit. It's horrible. I walked in one place and decided to let the cockroaches keep the table. This place was closed for filth and cockroaches a few weeks after I was there. The ferry has been stopped from Molokai to Maui because no one used it. Hell, come to Maui somebody might have offered them a job! They even let the ramp down to the leper colony rot out and it's closed. Molokai is a shit hole. Same as Oahu or Lil California as I call it.
