Pacific Gas & Electric lacked basic training before blackouts in NorCal
When Pacific Gas & Electric intentionally cut power to Northern California last fall, few of its emergency managers had learned the fundamentals of managing an emergency in their home state.
That all looks like a mirror image of how the Dept of Water Resources (DWR) mismanaged the debacle at Oroville dam. Let the finger pointing commence. I bet it lands back at Sacto.
Going to find out around 4am tomorrow. Shutting off the power again. Costs me about $40 / day to run the Generac. It does run the hot tub and A/C though.
Way late but the "Headline" was interesting. Neither this site or the "news" (sic) site give a clue about what PG&E did do that they should not have or what PG&E didn't do that they should have. A relative worked for PG&E for awhile. Trying to make a buck in the Califonia Peoples' Republic is tuff on a good day. But what'd they do (or not)? I've only worked the tail end of the distro where the rules were don't start a fire and don't get electrocuted. I'd assume that state-wide distro would have some other concerns, "Like, keep the Governor's hot tub running". Hey! You aren't the "news" but even a simple snark requires some set up.

ReplyDeleteA poorly managed, politically correct corporation overseen by three agencies of the State of California. What could possibly go wrong?

ReplyDeleteThat's BS. PG&E was corrupt and had a horrible reputation back in the 60's when I lived there.
