Someone broke into the church and took off with a laptop, a camera and a safe containing historical items.
“The couch was slid out like this, things were strewn all over the place and there was a gaping hole right there where the safe normally belongs,” Ehle said.
Inside that safe sat two original ledger books that had the records from the very beginning of the church – we’re talking more than a century old.

I've been in that church before. Very cool place, but I've always had a thing for history and old buildings.
Too bad the pastor didn't take the time to scan and preserve the old documents or at least donate them to the historical society in Sonora.
There are a number of people in that town who know who did it and where they ditched the records and are willing to say. Those people are punks and hoodlums always looking for the next high. Heck, they'd likely spill the beans unintentionally seeing how they're addle brained.
ReplyDeleteI like history too, old buildings, graveyards, battlefields stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteLoved running around DC, King St. in Alexandria, Va., Mt. Vernon, Ford's Theatre...
