(Natural News) Proving once again that centralized functionality is a really bad idea, Tesla reportedly experienced a “complete network outage” the other day that left its entire fleet of “smart” cars as dumb as a pile of metal.
The phone app doesn't control the car? So what. A bigger issue is the car bricks if the internal diagnostics detect any problem. Flat tire? Car won't start, get it towed.
Another issue, which usually floors people when I tell them, is that electric cars don't have heat. No heat is a deal-breaker anywhere the snow gets more than in inch deep. A cold weather package, if available, has a seat heater and a steering wheel heater.

What?!!
All this "safety" stuff is going to get someone raped and killed. Does it let you start the car if you aren't wearing your seatbelt? (and what if you have your 50-lb ruck on the front passenger seat?)
thanks for the info Geek. I have asked this Q many times but no one answers, the fact they offer a "heating package" says it probably barely gets warm, and sucks the life out of the batteries.
Ill keep my 2010 caddi with plenty of heat, seats, mirrors, even my steering wheel has heat.
Not to mention that a Model X (? not sure this is the right model #) lost it's panoramic glass roof on the highway on the way home from the Tesla dealership over the weekend.
I believe at least one model will stop if a person is detected directly in front of the car, and automatically unlock the doors. Nifty feature for Portland during the Antifa riot season!
Ha, Tesla is now selling crate motors to sub for that new small block you've been wanting. I don't know where you're supposed to put the battery since its the entire undercarriage of their models. Bilderback
No thanks, I'll keep my reliable, dependable, Prius Plug-In.

When Tesla goes tits up, Elon Musk can point to federal bureaucrats and say, "Hey, those dumbf***s gave me the money. Indict them."

This is about a battery technology, not about a car that may or may not work.
