NEVADA CITY, Calif. —
Trees marked for removal in Nevada City by PG&E are being guarded by protesters who plan to stay up in the trees overnight. They sat on branches throughout the day Monday so the utility couldn't cut the trees down.
Demonstrators, who are part of a large group of Nevada City residents against the tree removals, are committed to guarding the trees. However, the utility said the trees need to come down for safety reasons.
loon.
ReplyDeleteShut off power through threatened lines and let the locals no why
ReplyDeleteWhat is the problem here? Does gravity no longer exist when there are idiots up in a tree?
ReplyDeleteCut the damned things down.
Treat’em like a tree’d racoon.
ReplyDeleteOh,, might need a cell jammer, these fags stream everything
Have you no sense of irony? Burn 'em out.
DeleteExactly! Tell them they won't be chopping the trees down, just going to let the power lines drape on them and start a fire.
DeleteLine the trunk with barbed wire to prevent them from coming down.
"So sad. They died doing what they believed in."
I don't like to see trees cut either. But if a tree really needs to be removed, then it's got to go.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that hard to circumvent the protesters, although time consuming. Cut a two inch wide band, one inch deep, around the trunk of the tree. In a few months it will be an obviously dead tree and nobody will object to its removal.
Geek
A copper spike will do the same, and can be less obvious.
DeleteWhat freaking idiots. I would just go ahead and drop the trees and let those idiots fall along with them. After all, they are trespassing and endangering the public by their actions. They would not long be missed by their friends.
ReplyDeleteSeveral years back this was done at another location. They ended up building scaffolding to get to and remove the idiots. I'd say swing in with a boom truck and start snipping branches above them. See how fast they can move. Or start spraying some kind of stinky water into the branches.
ReplyDeleteHey, if Agent Orange was good enough to spray on our boys in Vietnam, it's good enough to spray on protesters here at home.
DeleteSimple solution, really: just let them know that this is a "you bet your head" situation. If the trees aren't cut and a fire results, summary execution follows.
Is the local vet out of tranq darts?
ReplyDeleteWhat’s the problem?
Are they up too high to reach with a sling shot. A lot of kids would like the opportunity.
ReplyDeletePeople like this are to blame for all the wildfires; the forests severely need management.
ReplyDeleteTell 'em to climb higher and grab those "ropes" for support. They'll be right down...
ReplyDeleteConcur with Jeremy! Get bucket truck and start cutting above them. They don't move, it's on them!
ReplyDeleteThe want too save those trees. But won't help Trump Plant 1 trillion more.
