Your Monday Morning Florida Report

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An emu was loose and on the run Thursday afternoon near Cassie Road on the westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed. 

One witness said the emu was chasing people around Hammond and Cahoon, News 6 partner WJXT reports.

  2. Emus ostrichs and cassowary are all big birds. They ARE bad ass . Australia (where else) has several deaths each year by the big birds. They are fast, mean and relatively vengeful. Always be aware of them. Personal Experience.

  3. Back in the 90s while living in LA, Lower Alabama, I was passed by an ostrich doing at least 30 mph. I was on a back road when it came out of the woods hooked up and it ran along side my truck until it just disappeared back into the woods. One of the craziest things I have ever seen.
