And relatives he hasn't seen in years are coming out of the woodwork...

The chances of winning the lottery are slim to none, but one man's luck has defied the odds.

Michael Christiansen of Norfolk, Nebraska, hit the jackpot for a second time this year.

Man, if I came into unexpected money, there's no way in hell I'd make it public. I'd have relatives that swore I was a piece of shit 10 years ago coming forward claiming I was their favorite all along.

  1. I think most lotteries have riles that you cannot stay anonymous, because they use you in promotional spots. I think that is true.

  2. $150,000. That's almost three pickups.

  3. Some lotteries you can remain anonymous but in most your name is a matter of public record. Other than name, you are not compelled to take part in their promotions at all.

If I had won one of the big ones, I would hire a lawyer and wait until the last minute to cash the ticket. Then I would stash the money away until all the hoopla died down. I would tell any and all who come with their hand out that: "No, that wasn't me. I sure wish it was though!"

  4. For whatever reason we don't understand, it seems some people are luckier than others. I sold a classic car to a guy who had won the California lottery twice. As I recall one jackpot was in the $30 million range and the other was the base amount of $8 million.
He had a shill call me to confirm the asking price, and then he called me back to make the deal over the phone. He said he did that because when people found out his name they would jack the price up.
