The process of metering was put in place back in April for Walmart at all stores across the country. Starting this weekend, Walmart will be back to counting customers. When Walmart started regulating store entry back in April, they were allowing no more than five customers for each 1,000 square feet at a given time, or about 20 percent of a store’s capacity. The new mandate will remain the same, unless there is a lower capacity allowed as required by a local government.

This is going to get interesting when people start doing their Christmas shopping in small towns like mine where you're extremely limited on stores to shop at.
I suspect UPS is going to busy as hell this year.
I'm going to help Walmart out by not shopping there. This Christmas I'm going to cut back on my spending, including Amazon. I'll shop small and independent stores as much as possible.

DeleteThe only way I shop at WallyWorld is online. No hassles and free delivery.
ReplyDeleteFed Ex and UPS have farmed out deliveries to other companies in my neck of the woods. A cpl drivers told me they are hiring like crazy.
ReplyDeleteVoicing my opinions on social media is going to save me a ton of money for Christmas this year!

Maybe the local shops who offer free merchandise delivery would do okay. I agree with that metering bullshit repellant - very early on with T.P. gone, we stood in line for 2 hours (6 a.m.) hoping to get some for household. Just felt stupid as hell.
ReplyDeleteI can thankfully say I haven't been inside a wallyworld for over 9 months, seeing if I can double that.

I shop at a Sam's Club on the outskirts of Dallas, and I noticed the parking lot was fuller than weekend normal this last weekend. When I got inside, the lines for each register were clear back to the middle of the store, and I thought "whatsup". When I got all my stuff, and got in line for the 30 minute wait to checkout, I noticed that they had closed 4 of the registers, 2 on the far left, and 2 on the far right. I asked one of the girls helping up front what the deal was, she said they were down for maintenance. Personally, I think they're trying to create fear again like it was in the spring, and here we go with limiting the number of people in the store. I'm not seeing a whole lot of shortages, except for the meat counter. I can't imagine Sam's wanting to lose so much money, and you know they are by doing this.

Saw a chart from the Dept of Labor on the unemployment rate per state. Top ten highest unemployment rates are all Blue states.
ReplyDeleteI know, surprising.
Black Friday ought to be interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe have shifted to the local Piggly Wiggly, except for prescription drugs and a few specialty items. The food quality is good and they had meats even when the local WM meat coolers were practically empty. And, the checkout people actually remember who we are and joke around with us when we visit. I know Piggly Wiggly is a corporation, but it somehow feels like we are supporting the local economy more when we go there.
ReplyDeletePlus they don't have somebody standing at the door asking if you have or need a mask.
DeleteI do most of my shopping there as well for the same reason, plus you're not in line for more than a minute. If I can avoid Walmart and shop there, I do.
While it may be a corporation, ours and the Hartsville store are owned by Bobby Reese, the older fella you see there. Nice guy.
We get Lisa's drugs from the Lafayette Pharmacy, the one on 52 just west of the 4 way stop at Ellington and 52.
Shop Local.
May be corporate but your also supporting the local population with jobs don't be to harsh big city wally has the low iq working there glad I don't live in the big city
