Your Friday Evening Florida Report

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A search warrant stemming from an unrelated matter led deputies to find multiple homemade bombs and other explosive materials stashed at a residence in Ocala, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Paul Thomas Giangrasso was initially arrested on Oct. 27 during an incident in which he pointed a gun at a deputy and screamed, “Shoot me right here, right now.”

  1. A pretty sensational article. Tannerite in most places it quite legal, as are "consumer grade fireworks." Pill bottle and shotgun shell sized full of what exactly? Not saying Mr Florida-Man isn't a fruit, rather there was a lot of poetic license taken in writing the arrest up.

Sort of like those police gun busts where the evidence laid out for a trophy photoshoot can be seen to be a bunch of airsoft guns, replicas and a couple scary scale models.

Why do we let the media get away with this? The guy isn't convicted, and even then does he waive the right to his privacy?

And more so why do we let the police grandstand and create fear? What was an unrelated and a mental health issue of "pill bottle magnitude" doesn't suddenly make them heroic defenders of the realm.

They took a bunch of stupid stuff off a troubled man, one so troubled he asked to be killed, and are doing a victory lap over trashing the sick man publicly?

Guess the mental illness the guy had was the catchy type, as the police and media seem to have caught it too.
