36-year-old Ernest McKnight III was booked-in at the Polk County Jail and charged with: Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling (F2), Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling (F2), Burglary of Unoccupied Conveyance (F3), Grand Theft Motor Vehicle (F3), Tampering with Evidence (F3), Petit Theft (M1), and 3-counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
When asked by a detective why he had the child with him, McKnight replied, “I was trying to toughen him up…I don’t want him to be soft.”

ReplyDeleteI've tried to toughen up my son a little bit too. Pushing him physically to do a little more than he thinks (or wants) he can, keep his emotions under control (manage anger/sorrow/happiness), look to the welfare of his family before himself, and living by what you EARN from your own work. Funny that committing grand theft and burglary of an occupied residence didn't ever enter into my mind.

Oh, and by the way, Anon up there... I don't really think that skin color has much to do with family values, it's more that Mr. McKnight is a self-centered asshole who also happens to have dark skin. Values are above skin color... so "negro family values" is a false premise to start from.
