Biden’s niece avoids prison time for DUI crash

President-elect Joe Biden’s niece, Caroline Biden, has escaped a prison sentence, after pleading guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) in Pennsylvania.

Ms Biden, 33, who is the daughter of the president-elect’s brother James, was questioned by police in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania, in August 2019, after she crashed her car into a tree.

  1. Well the poor thing. Fully understandable she would be self medicating with the stress from the court cases she has had to deal with. I am sure she had to ask Uncle Joe to talk to people and get things fixed, and that has to be a traumatic experience for a young girl. Especially having had to grown up around a child predator.

On the upside, I bet she keeps her hair smelling good when asking favors......

  4. As much as I'd love to be outraged about everything related to the Biden family, this is pretty routine for anyone who can afford a decent lawyer.

I live in PA and my ex-gf is an alcoholic. When she got her first DUI she got rehab and probation. For her second DUI she got more rehab, a week in jail, a brief stint of house arrest, and more probation. PA recently made a third DUI a felony, so when she got her third one she was looking at real jail time, but after 2 months they put her in a diversion program, made her go to rehab for another month, then turned her loose with more tightly supervised probation. I should probably add that she got her 2nd and 3rd while still on probation for her first, she hit a car when she got her 2nd one, and her lowest BAC was 0.38.

Long story short, the state of Pennsylvania really doesn't seem to want to keep drunk drivers in jail. And most of that was before they started releasing everyone for fear of the Wuhan flu.

No state does. Drunk drivers are excellent sources of revenue. Putting them in prison not only cuts off the revenue stream, but costs the state money.

  5. Maybe the tree needed killing. A valid defense in Texas!

  6. Believe it or not, almost everyone avoids jail for DUI. DUI = about $2000 for the state. They don't want jail time for it. My ex's got 5 of them and only one conviction. They plea bargain out of it.
