Federal Trade Commission calls for breakup of Facebook
The Federal Trade Commission sued to break up Facebook on Wednesday, asking a federal court to force the sell-off of assets such as Instagram and WhatsApp as independent businesses.

Remember when they made Ma Bell sell out? The phone system has been fucked up every since. Aren't the Feds and State a monopoly? Where's the competition?
I could not disagree more with your assessment. They were horrible, outrageous fees and you pay a fraction today of your overall income for far superior services.
Not only should they be going after Facefuck, but Googly eyes as well. Between the two companies they control way too much of the online ad revenue, not mention their election influencing in 2020.

I was in the nascent phone industry after the "Bell Breakup". AT&T had the same sorta lock on the market as Facebook and Google. Did you know it was illegal to hook up your own equipment to the phone lines? Sure you could have an answering machine. But your only choice was to rent it from the phone company for a $400 installation fee, then $500 a month. Imagine businesses with a key system or a switch and 100's of phone extensions? You had to rent it all. AND if AT&T hadn't been broken up, you wouldn't have that smartphone in your pocket because they would have held back the tech, just like they did with the old "Western Electric" atomic-bomb-proof dial phones.
I'm in a mixed frame of mind, I want smaller government and out of our lives but I hate those fucking little soy boy pricks and their entitled beta male view of the world. I don't have or want fb or those other things that the majority seem to gravitate to but it does seem like they have way too much control of information the general public gets to see.
