Proposed Law Would Require Police Officers To Have Bachelor’s Degree Or Be 25

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Becoming a police officer could soon take more time.
A new proposal introduced Monday would require anyone who wants to be a police officer in California to get a bachelor’s degree or turn 25 before starting their career.

  1. Another government scheme to feed the colleges and universities, so MOAR student loans, MOAR money for "educational" grants to university professors to study things like GLO BULL WARMING or why a power plant should not be built in that place because of some arkane aquatic creature that is about to become extinct anyway, MOAR indoctrinated peons in the po po who will sympathize with the downtordden victims of capitalism and the USA, which everyone knows was founded on ray ciss prinxiples.

  2. So an excuse to ensure that cops are Woke by brainwashing them in college. Lovely.

    1. Our state mandated training before being hired. It reduced the pool of applicants. Really didn’t get better candidates.
Had better officers with a competitive general knowledge test. Also a competitive physical fitness test.
That was all changed to be more inclusive
It’s more important have the right people than get the job done right.

  3. I can see the age requirement but not no way not no how the paper. A uni degree is not the be-all and end-all of the path to success in life.

    1. No, but the SS-Sicherheitsdienst did its job very well using highly educated types. I would suspect that is more the goal.

  4. New Jersey State Police tried to require this several years ago.

But the NAACP had it rescinded because black applicants were less likely to have a four year degree than white applicants.

Same thing will happen in this instance as well.

    1. I’ll bet this time around it’ll be “POCs get an exemption for ‘life experience ‘“. That way they can continue to reduce the pool of whites.

The ultimate goal is to replace all cops with either outright criminals, or those who have no other opportunities for well-paying jobs. It will come to the point where “calling the cops” will be more dreaded than a return visit from the original criminals.

    2. Not only NJ but most states across the country had passed similar requirements. This was in the early to mid 1990's and as you stated the NAAPC had it squashed.

  5. Nothing new. Applied for the job almost 30 years ago in a liberal city, passed everything except for required experience, Lieutenant told me I'd tested near the top of the list, "so just go get a Bachelors degree, then come back" and he'd hire me. (I'd been working day labor and short term temp instead of a steady gig, and they called that being unemployed.)

  6. Heck, if you get a Bachelors degree that's worth a damn, why would you work for the Sac PD?

  7. They just want to thin out the applicant pool. Then when citizens complain about the lack of a police force, they'll have a "good" excuse.
