Hello Everyone!! Check out this $15 piece of history! At 450 RPM its not exactly the fastest thing in the world but was still fun to use and UNBELIEVABLY controllable!
Two were issued to every tank crew when I was in the army 1968-77. Ours were the M3A1's - no charging handle. You stuck your finger in a hole in the bolt and pulled it back to cock it. They were a hoot to shoot. At seventy-five meters a man-sized silhouette was an easy target and if you paid attention you could fire single shots.
They sure was fun to shoot, the one he referenced without the charging handle was the M3A1. It was sad when we went from M60 series tanks to the M1, they went away. Oh well, all us old relics end up in storage until we're needed again.
The M3-A1 that I had for a year was slower than that (IIRC). Probably very well worn. I kept it and 3 magazines in a M-60 barrel bag down by my foot next to the door. My "plan" was to kick it out if I had to emergency evacuate and was unable to get my AK-47 off the armored seat. Young and stupid with great plans, indeed. regards, Alemaster
Would like to see a side by side with a Thompson to see the difference.
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest. How many rounds of 230 ball can your average Kraut take before they're done?

ReplyDeleteAnd you can damn near build one at home with plumbing supplies.
ReplyDeleteA good gun. Holds steady on target. Slow, yes, but so are some baseball home run hitters.
ReplyDeleteI think guys named Jerry have more fun.
ReplyDeleteI was on the M60A3 tank, we had these. I loved it.
