Californians To Vote In 2022 On Banning Sale Of Flavored Tobacco Products
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP/CBS13) — Californians will vote in 2022 on whether the state should ban the sale of flavored tobacco products, including flavored vaping cartridges.
Lawmakers approved the ban in 2020, but a referendum qualified Friday, meaning voters will have their say in November 2022. In the meanwhile, the law won’t take effect. Major tobacco companies backed the referendum in hopes of overturning the law.
Guess what? If flavored tobacco is in threat of a ban, then people will initially stock up on it, and after that, just get it from out of state.
The nanny state has no right to protect a person from his own choices (even if they are unwise) if it does not directly affect others. Banning the sale of vaping products is a no-no, whereas banning the use of vaping products in publicly enclosed spaces where others may inhale the vaping products will probably pass muster.
Also, the banning of vaping products. an alternative to cigarettes, will likely result in an increase in smoking related illnesses and deaths.
It's another prohibition that's make the bootleggers rich. On the other hand, it's probably a government created ploy to drive up the demand for the "high-taxed" marijuana.
I remember smoking Kools, and not even wanting to bum a cigarette that wasn't at least menthol....I found out later that Kools were the highest in nicotine content....who knew?....quit in '99, been quit ever since....BTW, I'd much rather smell a real cigarette than any of that vaping crappola....even a good smelling pipe tobacco is better than that....cigars are out, however....I don't know about the taste, but they smell like unadulterated shit....

ReplyDeleteBack when I was addicted to cigarettes it was menthol cigarettes. Non menthols didn't do a thing for me, even in a pinch.
