HOUSTON — A Texas man who stole an ambulance was arrested Thursday in a fast food drive thru line with the emergency lights on, police said.
Houston police said the man jumped in and drove off in the ambulance while paramedics were on a call at an apartment complex near the fast-food restaurant, KHOU reported.
Reminds me of the time when I was in college in St. Louis and my roommate, who was from Chicago, had put in a bid of $200 on a 72 Cadillac Miller Meteor ambulance one of those suburbs around Chicago was auctioning off. He got a call one day that said "come and pick up your ambulance". We drove up to Chicago and picked it up a drove it around for a while. It was actually a blast to drive and I did in fact take it through a drive through. Had one of those 500 cubic inch engines. He fixed it up as sort of an RV and sold it.
