  2. I read about the shooting, but didn't realize that the gun was from the Pastor. It is sad, but a good reminder that if you are going to carry a gun, you must always have the mindset that you are aware that you are carrying it, since it is easy to forget that you even have it on,after carrying it daily.
And you also must have the mindset that when you draw that weapon, it is with the sole reason that you are going to plan on shooting it. To draw a gun and then stand there, acting like it is some kind of a talisman or a cross to a vampire, is akin to asking to be killed. I am not saying that the Pastor was a bad person, just that he made mistakes that cost him his life. It is a good reminder to us all, that there comes a great responsibility with carrying a gun. He failed that responsibility and it cost his family their husband/father, and his congregation their Pastor. My very heartfelt sympathies to them all. And while I sound judgemental about the Pastor, there are many times that I have had to check myself, forgetting that I am carrying my gun, when I am distracted.
One other thing, while thinking of it. I took my wife to the dentist today. I sat in the car, waiting for her. I shut my car off, and it unlocks my car when I do so. Lately, I have made it a point to lock my doors when sitting in my car with it turned off. I had a lot of people walking past both ways near my car, and it would be easy for a bad person to just open my car door, and attempt to rob me, without me being able to resist. At least with my doors locked, I am able to slow them down a bit.

    1. (At the risk of getting off the original topic) One of the first things I noticed about a new car I purchased some time ago was that automatic unlocking of the doors when you shut the car off. Oh, hell no. Pulled out the owners manual, found the section on reprogramming and shut that "feature" off.

  3. Sad, sad, sad.....
Like White Colony, TX church shooting, probably could have been avoided, if a guy with “church-security” mentality had been trained.
God bless you guys who have committed to church-security. I truly applaud you.
But, go get training.... commit to learning what you don’t know!
In the name of The Lord, humble yourselves and commit to learning what you don’t know... but arrogantly think you do.
