Two Spirit Airlines gate agents injured in caught-on-video attack

Wild video captured three passengers attacking two Spirit Airlines employees who asked them to make sure their carry-on bags were the right size before boarding their flight from Detroit to Atlanta.

Both airline agents were injured and one was taken to a hospital after being assaulted by the passengers inside the terminal at Detroit Metro Airport on Sunday, Spirit spokesman Field Sutton told The Post in an email.

  2. I had to check the story before assuming their "party affiliation".

    Not.

We all knew, especially coming out of Detroit...

  3. Yeah, they have almost pushed me to the breaking point too. Never fly Spirit Airlines.

    1. I flew on Spook Airlines once. That flight was like walking down MLK BLVD in Detroit at
Midnight during a power outage. Fuck that. Never again.

    2. Never fly into or out of Detroit if you can possibly avoid it.

    3. No white man ever walks down MLK Boulevard in Detroit at midnight during a power outage and even has the opportunity to think about doing it again.

    4. Eh, DTW's not so bad. The new terminal (McNamara) is quite nice, but it's all Delta. North Terminal (Spirit) isn't bad after the facelift they did a few years ago. Sure Detroit itself is very very "diverse" but there are lots of suburbs that are nice enough, and DTW is miles outside of Detroit. Same with BWI. I wouldn't recommend walking around downtown Baltimore at night (though I have done), but BWI serves the Imperial Capitol and environs, and is miles outside of Bodymore (AKA Harm City).

Spirit is hit or miss for comfort depending on exactly which plane you draw. (Seat pitch is horrible, but the new planes with less-padded seats there is enough room. Jet Blue is best for seat pitch -- even coach had enough room for The Swedish Disaster's [very long] legs.) The real problem I have with Spirit is that if your flight is cancelled for whatever reason, it takes days to get put on an alternate flight, since they tend to run at full capacity.

  5. I was wondering what the hook was, then I thought "self, I bet this is another case of 'guess the race'", and son of a bitch, I was right!

  6. Airline deregulation has proven to be a double edged sword. Ticket prices fell, but at the same time anyone can now fly. Perhaps I am too old, but there was a time before deregulation, when one dressed up to take a flight.

    1. First time I ever had to wear a suit was when we took a flight overseas. I was 10 years old. Never had to get that dressed up before then, even for church.

  8. Good for Spirit Airlines.
I used to see passengers routinely bring oversized luggage onto the plane with them.
If it's so big it needs an undercarriage, it probably needs to be checked.

  11. Out of curiosity, I watched the video.

    Yeah, I guessed correctly.

  12. I can tell by the enhance melanin content of the "peaceful protesters" that they were simply engaging in legitimate, non violent action against the patriarchy's clearly systemic racist carry on baggage restrictions. I am guessing dat dem gate agents be domestic terrorists and extremists simply bent on holding down the freedom worshipping descendants of slavery who are rightfully upset that the reparations have been withheld from them. What a travesty!

But, seriously. How can anyone be surprised after the riots over the past six months? How can we not expect this to get worse when more that 74 million Americans have been branded as domestic terrorists? More Dem unity: STFU and do what I tell you to do.

  17. In their defense, watermelons are not safe in check in luggage and you do need a bit larger bag for them.

  23. Video is so racist! It would have you believe that the passengers were of a darker persuasion! This is intolerable! Video should be banned unless person(s) of pale complexion can be blamed for any attacks against otherwise peaceful people of color.
