If A Dog Could Talk

“If I Could Talk” is a wonderful short film about a dog and the things he would like to say to the man who saved him when he was a puppy. This film should resonate with anyone who has ever raised a dog from a puppy to old age and shared many good times together. The film was directed by Shawn Welling who plays the dog owner in the film. Shawn’s best friend is his dog Max who is also featured in the film. If you enjoyed this you might also like to watch the sequel If I Could Bark.

  1. Damn it Ken! I got through the first 15 seconds then it all got dusty in here. Forwarding this to my kids so they can share in the dusty conditions.

  2. Well damn Kenny - that reduced me to a crying puddle in the middle of the floor. I've been blessed with some good companions over the years.

The bride took one look at my sorry ass and said - "musta had something to do with a dog".

She knows how I feel about most people and she knows me well...

Post suggestion - youtube "So God made a dog"

An offshoot from "So God made a farmer" commercial.

    God Bless our buddies.

  3. I’m glad no one is here to see me reduced to a crying little bitch thinking about my Foster Bear. He was that ONE dog you get. I still miss him, sure wish dogs lived 40 or 50 years.

  4. When my grandfather, the greatest man I ever knew, died...I did not cry.
When one of my only true friends died...I did not cry.

Cassi had lived longer than any Boxer was intended (16 yrs) and I had to make that final decision. On the day I carried her to the truck, she was in too much pain to walk, but still her tail wagging because she loved truck rides. I carried her from the truck to the "table". I sat and held her while the vet performed his dreaded duty...I cried from the moment I woke till I fell asleep that night.

I sit here now, having watched this short film and tears come again. She was the smartest, orneriest, most athletic and most loving creature I have ever known.

Damn you, Kenny...and THANK YOU for helping keep those marvelous memories fresh and alive.

  7. Fuck yeah, I now have my seventh Lab. All are still family and will never be forgotten. Over the last 49 years I've probably gone a total of 5 years without a dog.

  8. I got about two minutes into it and I'd run through my tissue supplies. I will take a breather and try again later.

  9. Great heartfelt film. BTW Wirecutter, I'm not able to leave a check in any of the reaction boxes.

  10. Don't mind me. I'll just curl up on the floor for a while. I'll be fine.

  11. Dammit Kenny, it's not dusty... Grown ass man crying his eyes out over all of the past Dog-friends that have gone, and the one that will make the journey in the near future. Why do they affect us the way they do? Damn, it hurts... guess that means we're still alive.

Simple reminder how life is better when shared with a dog (or 2). I have 2 therapy dogs for shell shock. One gently bites my arm if I am having nightmares.... to wake me up. I cried over this. Thank you.

  13. I made it to the end with the expected result of crying.

Dogs give so much and ask for so little.
