  1. Really good video. My Great X3 Grandfather won the CMOH with the 99th Illinois regiment at Vicksburg and there is a marker on the spot in the Battlefield park where the action took place. I actually have the telescope and binoculars he carried in the battle. He was captured by Confederate forces and personally interviewed by Pemberton who then paroled him back to the Union with a written commendation for Valor. His CMOH is one of the very few involving an enemy commendation. Vicksburg Battlefield National Park is an amazing place and my older son and I both earned the Vicksburg Historic Trek award with the Boy Scouts for a combined hike and land service project we did there. Don't tell the Park Rangers but I also have one spherical grape shot about 1" in diameter fired at the battle.

    2. You're right about that. Funny how I let that slip into my vocabulary.
