Chicago tops list of most corrupt city in US, report says

CHICAGO — A new report from the University of Illinois claims Chicago is the most corrupt city in the US.

The report is based on data from the justice department, which looked at public corruption convictions between 1976 and 2019.

  2. Not more corrupt than DC. Absolutely not. But maybe DC doesn't count as a city.

    1. They don't count as a state either and shouldn't get representation in congress.

  3. I can think of a shitload of other cities that get participation trophies.

  4. The total number of convictions (even if normalized/scaled to overall city population or number of govt workers) is NOT a good metric of corruption.

In a really corrupt city there would be few convictions, since the corrupt would not even be brought to trial.

That said, I have no doubt that Chicago is high on the corrupt-o-meter.

  5. My friends used to refer to the Midwest population as being "good Midwest stock." The Midwest apparently stops at the Chicago City Limits. The Mafia, corrupt labor unions, corrupt school teachers, Southside gangs and drug dealers, and, perhaps most importantly, corrupt politicians run rampant there. I heard that the ante-room for the federal prison system was the Chicago City Council. The city is a blight on the Amnerican landscape.

If God doesn't destroy it, He owes an apology to Sodom and Gomorrah.

    1. Same in Springfield IL - state capital.
The whole damn state is corrupt and broke beyond their ability to pay it back.
Anyone who move to IL is plain stupid.

  12. Uncle Joe's new U.S. Attorney is gonna fix that right up. (Mostly by sending all those old conviction records down the Memory Hole. See? All better.)

  13. My father's family is from Chicago and surrounding areas. Had an Uncle (great uncle?) gunned down in a hit at the gas station he worked on, think he was just a by-stander.
I know enough about the history of that city to know that Obama was as corrupt as any polietician to run for office. Certainly would have thought more people would have figured that out when he launched his candidacy from Bill Ayers' living room. I did not count on how many accepted that as his bona fides.
