I know there is a book where self-build weapons which are now in Police possession are shown with pictures. And some of those weapons are ... interesting to say the least. One guy attached his motorized toothbruch to the trigger of his pistol and voila fully automatic pistol. I wouldnt be surprised if someone with gunsmithing skill takes a look at that picture and says "Not possible does not exist. Lets try it" and before you say POOF this guy has designed a mechanism where you can use pistol magazines in revolvers. Alex Lund
The basic concept to make this work is fairly straightforward. -- Remove the solid exterior, revolver cylinder. -- Add a open sided "gear" cylinder that can accept rounds from the magazine. What is not obvious from the picture is how the open "gear" chamber is sealed before firing.
One option would be a "plate" that fits the "gear" to provide the same firing geometry as the original cylinder. There would have to be additional moving parts to: -- Lift the plate before the gear rotates -- Lower & lock it in place before firing
There are probably drawings from firearms history that illustrate this idea & other options. A "mag-volver" is a logical method to try, before moving on to a much more complicated true magazine feed.
That must be one of those thirty magazine clips Kevin Leon warned us about.
ReplyDeleteAh, the much feared, incredibly deadly "assault revolver."
