Massive ship Ever Given ‘refloated’ with help of supermoon after blocking Suez Canal

The massive container ship that has been stuck in the Suez Canal for six days was reportedly back afloat Sunday night — thanks to a supermoon that brought high tides.

A top pilot with the canal authority confirmed to the Associated Press that the Ever Given had been partially refloated after running aground last Tuesday in the crucial global shipping waterway.

  2. You know, that stuck ship, surrounded by other ships, darned, you would think someone would hook up a couple cables or lines to some of those other ships instead of trying to dig out the nose.

Do some kedging with the anchor (drop anchor, pull it forward, let it set, pull in the anchor and ship moves forward, slowly.

    Or both.

But, noooo... Had to wait for specialized tugs and marine salvage workers to show up to do what any able-bodied seaman from pre 1950 would have known to do...

Fucking stupid fucks, all of them.

    1. While I would wholeheartedly agree, in today business world litigation rears it's ugly head a lot. With no lives at risk the captains would have to pass that type decision up the line thru channels, not to mention the canal authority.

First off, it was wedged in sideways. Both bow ans stern were embedded in the bank. Second, most of those other ships aren't designed for pulling other ships. 3rd, several youtube videos have been made the explore the situation and explain the forces needed to pull the ship free. Let's just say it can't be done. 4th, if it is done wrong and the ship capsizes there will be a real mess that could shut down the canal for months.
I've learned a long time ago that if there appears to be an obvious solution that the experts aren't using, then it probably means I don't know enough about the situation.

    3. What Charlie said, except not just litigation but insurance. Once it's stuck, the insurance company gets to dictate how recovery will proceed.

  3. Experts....

Usually "experts" are fake news these days

  4. The ship is now still stuck but parallel to the bank allowing other ships to pass. A salvage crew is in route to begin offloading the containers to lighten the ship. Evergreen shipping is owned by Walmart and the Clinton Foundation. And the Evergreen shipping line is suspect in moving human traffic, including children. When the containers are offloaded and one is opened and full of human bodies, we will know what evil is still going on.

    1. You can expect the delivery of those shipping containers to be delayed a couple of weeks. Pretty sure if any were carrying people, you don't want to be the one opening it.

  5. What has happened to the people that got the ship stuck in the first place?
