Science in an Age of Fear

"Don’t you believe in Science?” she asked. She was a devoted member of the Party of Science -- the party that doesn’t recognize that men and women are different.

“No,” I said. “I am a scientist. I practice science, I don’t believe in it.” For more than half a century I have been a professional physicist. Professional -- that means someone pays me to practice my craft.

  2. "Science adjusts its views based on what's observed; Faith is the DENIAL of observation so that belief can be preserved."

    1. Sounds good except it isn't true. Faith is not denial of observation, it is interpretation of observed facts to match belief, such as the belief that a higher power is in charge of nature. When observed facts don't change, there is no contradiction, so that science and belief are fully compatible.

The problem with fake scamdemics, globull warming, and other stupid claptrap isn't about faith, or even about science, it's about a total failure of observation. The data says there is no excess mortality, thus no scamdemic. The data says climate changes due to solar cycles, not pollution. Those beliefs are unsupported by observable facts.

The problem isn't science, and it isn't faith, the problem is idiots who simply make shit up, and other idiots who listen to them making shit up.

  4. I'm quite a fan of Minchin and I really like Storm. Really clever wordplay and telling an interesting story in an amusing way.

  5. "ivermectin also works."

There are more and more studies that are showing incredible evidence of Ivermectin not only working as a prophylactic, but also effective in treatment. Cheap and abundant too.
