Some retailers leave mask requirements in place after States lift restrictions

Texas and Mississippi followed Florida’s lead this week and announced they would lift key business restrictions and end statewide mask mandates, but many popular retailers plan to continue requiring customers to wear face coverings in their stores.

I'm with Doc on this one. If a store or business requires a mask to shop there, more power to them. I can take my business elsewhere if I don't agree with it.
And just for the record, while Walmart has a big sign on their windows saying masks are required for staff and customers, I've never been denied entry at the Lafayette store for not wearing one. And as far as Walgreens goes, I've never even seen a sign saying masks were required at this store. Matter of fact, we just switched Lisa prescriptions over to Walgreens last month and when I went in to pick them up, none of the staff were wearing masks either.

  1. I have only been refused serve at one place, the US Post office. The woman of color was screaming at me. I asked her if she had heard of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and I had a disability. She promptly asked me what my disability was. At that point I told her she needed to get her supervisor or manager out front as there was a problem. The supervisor was another person of color (Indian or Pakistani) and came out telling me I had to leave. I informed him the counter worker had asked what my disability was when I informed her I had a disability. I followed up with a question about how current their ADA training was as The clerk failed the basics. I had people videoing me at this point. It made the local paper and the Post office had mandatory re-training on ADA.

Yes, I can be an asshole. She rubbed me the wrong way and I threw it back at her.

    1. Southern border is the biggest free shooting range there is. Pop a few of them and the others might get the idea.

  3. Our mayor (Meridian) is keeping his mandate in place until the end of the month. People treat it like the law that it isn't.
All the stores have a sign saying masks are required but almost none enforce it. The exception is WalMart. You can go in and shop without a mask but you can't check out unless you're wearing one, even at the self checkout.
I went in to get a few things and when I got to the register I was told I couldn't check out without a mask so I went to the self checkout. I was about halfway through when the thing shut down. A manager came over and told me I had to wear a mask to check out so I left. I went back a week later and loaded up a cart with meat, dairy, and frozen food. They pulled the same shit so I left the cart sitting there and walked out, never to return.

  4. Walmart and Kroger around here are certainly NOT enforcing anything! The few stores that have made it an issue I stopped shopping at

    1. I went through the local HEB here in Texas without one, saw about 1 in 20 people without masks, most of them were men but at least one woman had a pair stashed somewhere in her purse. I figure if they kick me out, family can keep shopping and I'll wait in the car.

No one said a word but I did get a few looks. I'm somewhere between axe murderer and seedy werewolf; no one wants to have anything to do with that anyway, I might be rabid.

  5. Only been challenged twice walking into liquor stores of all things. I told him medical condition. No problems at #2. #1 store I told the same thing and he asked what condition. I told him Ocular-rectal inversion. He didn't say anything, but after I paid I told him that Ocular-rectal inversion was a condition where I couldn't see my ass wearing a mask and left with my brown bag.

  6. We ate at Pappadeaux's in FtWorth tonight, and their sign stated masks were mandatory for employee's and optional for patrons. I'd guess 60-75% of all there wore no mask in or out. Some did. Strikes me as the best solution. If you suffer from an over abundance of caution, by all means were your mask.

  7. I agree with you in principle Kenny: one should have the freedom to choose.
That being said, I think we the people need to hold TPTB accountable. Easiest way is to vote with your wallet! Don't shop at stores whos policy's you don't like. Drink coke? Shop at Dicks? Watch the NFL? They'll get the hint, count on it.
If you're truly committed? You'll vote with your feet, and GTFO of those shitholes and move back to America.

A few days ago I had to go into Anchorage, which I do as few times a year as possible.
I walked into a coffee shop to buy a small mocha.
They cheerfully told me that they require a mask when inside their store.
Without breaking stride or saying a word, I spun on my heel and walked out of there.
Fuck them. They are free to be anti science sheep if that gets them aroused......but they will not drag me into their mass hysteria and retardation.....

  8. I would think the only protection a mask would offer would be to keep one from biting a virus infected fingernail or picking ones nose.

  9. Around here pretty much all everything have signs but nobody is enforcing it. I had to wear one when going for tests in the medical clinic, it's tied in with the hospital, last year but other than that I roamed, as much as I could considering, mask free. Asked one guy, about my age, in wallyworld now he liked being a sheep ? He looked at me for a moment then took his off and smiled. One more for our side 👍.
