Cheap thrills

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP/CBS13) — A Calaveras County man who poisoned eight homeless people in Huntington Beach so he could videotape their reactions was sentenced Friday to four years in state prison.

While I think it was an asshole thing to do, I'm not sure I'd consider giving them capsicum as poisoning. Of course, I'm not the one that got lit up, either.

  1. I totally agree with you Wirecutter. By this stretch of interpretation, if the police pepper spray or an individual pepper sprays an attacker, they can be charged with poisoning another. While a dick move, it’s a slippery slope to start on. Oh what the heck am I saying, it’s California.

  2. Is there a capsicum-show 'loophole'... can I buy capsicum on the Internet... without a 'background check'?
