Connecticut man fleeing distracted driving checkpoint crashes into bank
HARTFORD, Conn — A Connecticut man fleeing a distracted driving checkpoint drove into the side of a Hartford bank early Wednesday, authorities said.
Domingo Quinones, 36, of Hartford, was arrested on nine charges, including first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, engaging police in pursuit and use of a handheld device while driving, the Hartford Courant reported.
What is a "distracted driver checkpoint?" Is that where they pull you over because they want to and warrantlessly check your phone for texts? I thought DWI checkpoints were bad enough, that's breaking the 4th amendment twice in one stop
So the checkpoint is trying to blame the driver for the distraction it caused while trying to violating a persons 4th amendment rights / get someone killed?
Enforcement are the aggressors and immediately lose any moral high ground. Stop chasing people for victimless "crimes".
I'm just an ol. country boy, so somebody's going to have to explain how I could be distracted if I stopped at check point for distracted drivers. If I were distracted, I would likely hit a po-leece or a po-leece car at the check point.
If you aren't holding a phone in your hand or eating cereal from a bowel in your lap, they aren't going to motion you to pull over. Are some of you actually arguing in favor of texting and driving?

ReplyDeleteDistracted Driver Checkpoint?
ReplyDeleteRemember kids, Law Enforcement doesn't deal with real criminals.
I wonder if he was an illegal alien? If it turns out he is they will probably release him on his own recognition.
ReplyDeleteBut not before he opens a Christmas Club account at the bank Feliz Navidad
